David Sibbald 🏴 shows
A Scot from Edinburgh, but at university in Glasgow, David embarked on his radio career at Radio Clyde in the Newsroom. But the attraction of teaching Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and French was too strong to resist.
In 1985, he moved to North Yorkshire and owned a restaurant, while teaching part-time. He had a weekly nostalgia programme on local radio, then on the internet and after finally retiring from teaching, he found himself doing a daily breakfast show on a community radio station.
David is happy to be involved in the world of nostalgia, as he believes that is where his true forte lies. He dislikes radio presenters who say “that was, this is” without any background to the music. This is reflected in his talks on British and American entertainment of the 1950s and 60s, but is always pleased to play more modern tracks – if they’re good!
David still keeps his hand in teaching with tuition in some subjects, but he is always on the look-out for further research opportunities in entertainment
